Hello, my name is Jimmy Burke and I am the Regional Patient and Service User Lead for HSE South West.
Ireland’s health plans say patients, service users, and staff should work together. In Cork and Kerry, healthcare staff are already working in partnership with patients and service-users, using the HSE South West Integr8 commitments to deliver on our values of care, compassion, trust and learning.
As part of our ongoing commitment to working in partnership with the public, HSE South West is setting up new patient and service user partnership groups. These groups are the Patient and Service User Partnership Council, Panel and Mailing List. These new partnership groups will give patients and service users a clear way to use their lived experience to improve our services.
As Regional Patient and Service User Lead my focus is on building partnerships where patients, service-users and staff can learn from each other to improve people’s health and the results of care.
I have worked as an Operations Manager with the HSE’s National Feedback Service and as a Senior Paediatric Physiotherapist, and I have also trained with UNESCO. I am excited to use this experience to create more opportunities for members of the public to influence how our services evolve. I want to make it easier for patients and service users to have a say in their care, and to use their experiences to make improvements.
I look forward to working in partnership with patients, service-users, carers, families, colleagues and communities across Cork and Kerry.
